Give Your Thanksgiving Table a Centerpiece: The Case for a Showstopper Cake

I think Thanksgiving celebrations deserve the kind of cake that makes a room go quiet for a second when it’s carried to the table.

Tall, beautiful layers. An icing so pretty that someone reaches for their phone before anyone reaches for a fork. A first bite that’s rich, tender and exactly as good as it looked. That’s the cake people talk about long after the plates are cleared, and it’s the cake that turns a holiday meal into a memory.

A great cake does more than end the meal. It gives everyone a reason to gather around the table, to linger, and to say “I’ll have just one more slice.” It’s the part of Thanksgiving your guests will tell you about the next time you see them.

This year, we think your table deserves that cake.

Three cakes made for Thanksgiving

7-Layer Pumpkin Cake: Fall in its fullest form. Seven layers of dense pumpkin cake, iced and filled with spice-infused buttercream. It’s a best seller every Fall for a reason, and it looks as good as it tastes.

Sweet Potato Cake: Soft, spiced sweet potato cake, made for the holiday table. It tastes like the comfort food you look forward to all year, and it’s the one guests will ask about. Added treat, it's been selected as one of Oprah's Favorite Things!

7-Layer Caramel Cake: The quintessential Caroline’s classic. A Southern favorite that has become a tradition in its own right, with seven tender layers and our famous caramel icing. If you only order one cake this year, this is the one that has made a tradition of us. (My personal favorite!)

What a cake brings to the table

A moment people gather around. A tall, gorgeous cake gets people out of their seats. Someone takes a photo, someone asks who made it, and the kids crowd in to see the layers.

Easy, even slices for a crowd. A cake cuts into generous, uniform pieces, which makes serving a big group simple.

One less thing to plan. Ordering a cake means one dessert to order, store and serve, so the host can spend more time at the table.

How to plan it

  • Start with your guest count. Plan about one slice per person, plus a few extra for seconds.
  • Order early. Thanksgiving is November 26, and holiday cakes sell out. If you're not able to order early, our Thanksgiving shipping cutoff is November 23rd.
  • Can’t choose? Order two. A pumpkin cake and a caramel cake side by side make a table people remember, plus leftovers can be frozen AND re-frozen for up to 6 months. They never last that long in my house!
  • Save a slice for Friday. Leftover cake with morning coffee is one of the best parts of the long weekend. If you're feeling really adventurous try making french toast with a thin slice of Caramel cake.

Make it the centerpiece

Whether you’re hosting a table of four or a house full of twenty, a show stopping cake can make your Thanksgiving feel complete.
